Capital Area Justice Ministry

Background

What is the Capital Area Justice Ministry?

The Capital Area Justice Ministry is a diverse coalition of 20 religious congregations working together over the long haul to build a powerful movement that will end segregation and poverty, and advance justice and opportunity for all in the Tallahassee, Florida area.

We endeavor to build justice ministries within and among our congregations and engage faith community across the Big Bend to build authentic relationships so we can dismantle the oppressive local systems that have produced inequity, segregation, and the wealth gap between privileged and marginalized communities.

Our latest Nehemiah Action

In May 2023, the Capital Area Justice Ministry held a large public assembly of concerned citizens from all over Tallahassee. In this meeting we urged local officials to address pressing communities issues such as unnecessary youth arrests and the lack of affordable rentals for very and extremely low-income households. Listen to our platform and hear our local public officials’ responses to the people’s voice here.

Our next Nehemiah Action is on March 19, 2024. We will push for solutions to rising gun violence, youth arrests, and the lack of affordable housing for very low income families in our communities.
