Jacksonville, FL – In 2012, ICARE found that there were no day-time resources accessible to homeless individuals, and that for ten years, homeless service providers had been asking for a center to be open to meet this unmet need. In 2012, ICARE’s Nehemiah Action brought together 1,800 leaders who urged the mayor to commit to open a center where people could take showers, do laundry, use computers and access mental health and job counseling. In 2013, the center opened and now serves 150 people per day.
