Congregations Acting for Justice and Empowerment gathered together to ask Mayor Stephanie Terry and city council members about affordable housing in Evansville.
At the meeting Monday night at the St. Benedict Cathedral, Mayor Terry says she’s going to ask the city council to add an additional $250,000 to the affordable house trust fund this year.
That will bring the whole total of the trust fund budget to $750,000 with hopes of maintaining that in 2025.
“Continue personally to grow affordable housing trust fund, which I think will be one of the questions tonight we are gonna be intentional to try to make progress there,” says Mayor Terry. “Looking at other alternative funding sources and that’s gonna take some time.”
The Affordable Housing Fund Advisory Committee will be meeting on May 8.
