Several hundred residents from across 26 religious congregations come together to discuss the lack of affordable rental housing in Evansville.

The Congregations Acting for Justice and Empowerment held a community problems assembly to hear testimonies from community members.

The group says they have learned that a lack of safe housing often contributes to other issues, such as mental health problems.

Evansville mayor, Stephanie Terry, also spoke during the assembly providing an update on moves to improve access to affordable housing in the city.

Mayor Terry touches on doubling the affordable housing trust fund to $1 million in the 2025 budget and says her administration is actively exploring ways to increase funding.
