More than 1,000 people packed inside the Knoxville Civic Auditorium Tuesday night to voice their concerns to Knox County and city leaders.
Justice Knox hosted their Nehemiah Action Assembly, which brought several church congregations from Knox County together to allow people like Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon and Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs to hear what they had to say.
“We want our community to know that there are numbers and numbers of people behind those that maybe don’t feel like they have a voice,” said event organizer Mary Groh.
Two of the biggest topics of conversation were affordable housing and transportation.
“Usually our goals are the same. Sometimes our strategies vary or our ability to fund things as fast as we need is not as always the same as we’d like it to be, but the values are the same. It’s just how do we get to our goals,” said Mayor Kincannon.
Kincannon said the topics discussed Tuesday night will be things that will continue to come up in city meetings moving forward.
