Monsignor Chanel Jeanty of St. James Catholic Church, other clergy and members of People Acting for Community Together (PACT) gathered in front of the office of Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle Monday to demand that she sign a compact ending unnecessary arrests for persons driving with suspended licenses due to unpaid fees and fines. Fernandez Rundle was absent from the group’s annual Nehemiah Action assembly last week and did not send a representative to attend in her stead. PACT says the state attorney has verbally committed to reform on the matter but has taken no action.
