The Charleston Area Justice Ministry is hosting a forum to educate the community around racial disparities in Charleston policing practices, the second forum this year focused on this issue.
They are inviting the public to come out and learn about the Charleston Police Department’s Racial Bias Audit Implementation Final Report. They aim to help people understand the status of racial disparities in policing practices, and help them to develop questions that will be pitched to the Charleston Police Department about the audit’s implementation.
In addition, there will also be a presentation on ways to increase public safety and police efficiency while reducing racial disparities in traffic stops, based on nationwide best practices.
There will also be small group table discussions, as they invite members of the community to dive into CPD’s implementation of the racial bias audit recommendations.
The event will be held Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Patrick Parish Center on St. Philip Street.
