More than a thousand members of local congregations joined forces inside the John Paul Jones arena to make an “impact.”

Every year members of IMPACT, or Interfaith Movement Promoting Action by Congregations Together, focus on finding a solution for one problem.

This year they’ve been working with the Charlottesville and Albemarle County government along with other local organizations to address homelessness and job training opportunities for young adults.

“We are just really thankful for our community leaders and the…agencies and organizations that have agreed to the solutions we have put forth tonight and we thank them for just coming out and making public commitments to those solutions. So it’s been a great night for IMPACT,” said Dorothy Jordan, IMPACT Co-President.

IMPACT has also been working with UVa and Martha Jefferson Hospital in an effort to create training to provide jobs to young people. The groups were not at the meeting but have told IMPACT of job opportunities and will be meeting with IMPACT.
